This Club celebrated the release of their eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Highlife’ with news of a Number 2 chart placing on iTunes. Following the success of their debut single ‘I Won’t Worry’ and follow up single ‘Add It Up’, Highlife has become an essential part of summer play-lists – filled with infectious pop tracks. The band could hardly have asked for a better start to 2012 with the nomination of ‘I Won’t Worry’ for the inaugural Choice Music Prize Irish Song of The Year. In addition, the song is featured on AIB’s new TV and cinema commercial and has also been featured by brands such as Vodafone and Google. ‘I Wont Worry’ is an addictive, upbeat hook laden track that has been dominating the radio air waves since its release in late 2011. The second single ‘Add It Up’ secured This Club’s place on Irish radio and has been steadily in the Top 30 most-played songs on Irish stations. For the first instalment of their live performance series, This Club covered En Vogue’s “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” while driving around Dublin city. Recorded in one take, the band brought their signature upbeat, energetic style to this 90′s classic hit and have received rave reviews, while also garnering praise from En Vogue’s own Dawn Robinson. ‘Highlife’ was produced by Dennis Herring who has produced seminal albums from bands such as Modest Mouse, The Hives and Counting Crows & solo artists such as Ben Folds and Elvis Costello and his input has had a significant impact on the music of the band. It was mixed by Joe Zook who has worked on albums by people like Katy Perry, Pink, Mika and Timbaland. After a very busy summer playing a host of European festivals and their own headline tour including a brilliant return to London’s Barfly during the summer, This Club are set for a busy autumn 2012.
